Christopher Husbands Guilty of Second Degree Murder
Eaton Centre in Toronto, Ontario became a crime scence when Christopher Husbands began shooting at the busy food court.
While Christopher and his girlfriend Lachelle John are in line, five men in dark clothing begin taking the escalator down to the food court. The group of men, including victims Nixon Nirmalendran and Ahmed Hassan recognize Husbands. Christopher pulls out a handgun and starts shooting.
Husbands fired 14 shots while customers fled and begain to panic.
Surveillance videos show Christopher shooting the gun, aswell as Hassan. After being shot, Hassan is seen walking, collapsing, and dying at the scene.
In court Husbands admitts shooting but pleads guilty as he says his intention was not for anyone to get killed. Christopher stated that he "thought he was going to die," which was why he began firing. He claims that he did not go to the mall with the intention of killing anyone.
